Women's volleyball wraps up season
By Derek Lamb

The GRCC volleyball team wrapped up their tremendous season with their first appearance in the NJCAA national tournament.
GRCC ended their outstanding year with a tough loss to #7 Iowa Lakes CC on Nov. 16. The team kept it very close losing the first game 30-29, the second game 30-24, and the third game 32-30.
Even though they didn’t win, Sami Hausmann feels it was a good experience for the team.
“The experience is priceless. To play teams that have been ranked all year and do well against them has shown us how good of a team we really are,” said Hausmann.
Had the Raiders been able to win that match they would have advanced to the 9th/10th place match in the final day of the tournament. Despite losing, the Raiders played their best and are looking forward to being even better next year.
“The highlight of the tournament was playing the number 7 team and doing well! We played really well and only ended up losing by 2. Now we just have to work hard and know that we can be better and beat them next year,” Hausmann said.
GRCC was seeded #14 and had a difficult task to begin the tournament facing the #3 seed Cowley County CC. The Raiders lost their first match to Cowley 3-0. Then the following day the Raiders took on 11th seeded Macomb CC and defeated them in three games.

Miles' career could come full circle, back to Michigan
“It’s fundamental
that we’re Michigan,” he
said of his family. “We’re
rooting for the Blue.
There’s no question.”
And now the
Michigan head coaching
job is open for the first
time since Schembechler
came from Miami, Ohio,
in 1969. At 54, this is
likely Miles’ only chance
to get it.
He’s such a foregone
conclusion in the mind
of many Michigan fans
that support signs are
appearing everywhere,
including in the crowd
at a Michigan basketball
game last week in
Anchorage, Alaska.
But he’s not talking
about it, at least not yet.
