Coming to America
"Christina Doe was born in Liberia, West Africa, but moved to Ghana as a child. Liberia is a beautiful country with vegetation growing lush and green, and is also one of Africa’s countries ripped apart by civil war.“I lived in Ghana 11 years,” Doe said. Living in Ghana “for the first five or six years was pretty difficult because I lost my dad during a civil war in Liberia. So growing up without a dad, you know, it’s pretty hurtful because of seeing my other friends with their dads.”

She was four when she lost her father, and said she remembers little about him. “A little bit, it’s sketchy, here and there. My family did a good job of telling me stories about him to keep the memory alive, so I can see him.”After her father was murdered, the people who did it tried to kill the rest of her family so they had to leave Liberia..." Pitcher inspired by brother
"Jared Knuth is a simple kind of man who has come to love and understand the game of baseball. His admiration for the game was derived from constant hours in the backyard playing baseball with his brother. “My brother would always get me to play catch, go hit, or do some baseball related activity,” Knuth said. The two would practice throwing with a tennis ball. With the ball being lighter, it was easier to throw the ball much harder; it would help Jared tone on his pitching skills. Masquerade act
"Standout, after three years of trying, put on their first drag show as an end of year event. With five queens making their appearance, including Rumor’s Mistress of Ceremonies Jessina Shanchez, the show attracted an audience of over 70 people. “This year, Standout has been focusing on building some really strong connections here at CC and I feel we’ve done a really good job,” Garrett Imhoff, Standout’s vice president said. “Our membership has jumped. Alcohol awareness not taken seriously at GRCC
"In 2006, 15,995 Michiganians sought publicly funded treatment for alcohol addiction; this included vulnerable populations like seniors and youth. An alcohol addiction is sometimes the “elephant in the room.” It is not mentioned as much as other drug addictions are in the news.
